Biography: Dimitrios Economidis

Born in Greece, Dimitrios Economidis works as an accountant.  Perhaps in response to being entangled in the vast corridors of numbers day after day, he became consumed with the endless questions that vex human beings, about the how, what and why of our existence.

Years ago, he met the poets of the Absolute Unknown, and then more recently, met Millicent Alexander who prompted him to focus on Rumi. She proposed that he translate into Greek the selected rubais of Mevlana from Ergin’s book Unknown Rumi, adding this piece of advice: “Don’t rack your brains trying to understand, my friend. The rubais are not close friends to reason with, but simply meant to be experienced.”
