You are in the place of sorrow, struggle and cruelty.
When you plunge into us and annihilate yourself,
you will have peace, kindness and abundance.
If you remain true, everything we have will be yours.
If not, still, we will accept your wrongs as being right.
The Rubaiyat of Rumi, The Ergin Translations, Volume 3, rubai 1211, page 152.
Tonight is the night
when secrets are revealed, clean and lucid.
The secrets in my heart
are nothing but the image of the Beloved.
O night, don’t pass quickly.
I have a lot of work to do.
The Rubaiyat of Rumi, The Ergin Translations, Volume 3, rubai 1206, page 149.
He kept me burning despite my yelling and crying out to Him.
When I kept silent, He burned me like the silent ones.
He drove me beyond all boundaries,
brought me back to the center, then set me on fire again.
The Rubaiyat of Rumi, The Ergin Translations, Volume 3, rubai 1202, page 147.
We inherited a boat from Noah as the prize of deliverance.
It sails through storms on the sea of life.
Thoughts, images, sorrows and pleasures
are the plants which grow from this sea.
Like the heart, they have neither form nor direction.
The Rubaiyat of Rumi, The Ergin Translations, Volume 3, rubai 1200, page 146.
That divine gift, the Water of Life,
is invisible, concealed in this clay body.
The self has put a seal on your heart,
and Love stays imprisoned there.
Break the seal. Free Love. What are you afraid of?
There is a secret path in your heart.
Follow that path to find the Beloved.
The Rubaiyat of Rumi, The Ergin Translations, Volume 3, rubai 1197, page 145.
Night has come.
But, what is this amazing burning in my heart?
I think it must be the dawn of a new day
which the eyes of the lover cannot see.
The eyes of Love do not differentiate between day and night.
The eyes of Love blind the eyes of lovers. Amazing!
The Rubaiyat of Rumi, The Ergin Translations, Volume 3, rubai 1192, page 143.,
At night, I turn around the city like wind.
running like water.
How can sleep overcome the one
who walks around the city in darkness?
The mind is the one who wants to have everything in order.
Don’t ask for reason or manners from the drunk.
The Rubaiyat of Rumi, The Ergin Translations, Volume 3, Rubai 1192, page 142.
There is a Soul inside of your soul.
Search for it.
There is a jewel in the mountain of your flesh.
Look for the mine, the source of that jewel.
O one who walks on the path to God,
if that is what you are searching for,
you will find it only inside of yourself.
The Rubaiyat of Rumi, The Ergin Translations, Volume 3, rubai 1172, page 132.
